The Lords of Dog Town skatepark project, with assistance from the South Central RC&D, has been awarded a $5,000 grant from the Tony Hawk Foundation. Founded by famous skateboarder Tony Hawk, the Foundation supports grass roots efforts by skate boarders to make their dreams of a skate park, a reality. In addition, American Ramp Company (the chosen ramp supplier) will match dollar for dollar the amount awarded by the Tony Hawk Foundation. This grant is in teh form of skatepark equipment. The Mellette County Community Foundation has allocated more than $1,400 towards our fence. The Swift Bear Community Youth Affairs donated $1,500 and our local skaters have raised more than $700 throough their many projects.
Some of the promised grants have time stipulations for completion, therefore the Lords of Prairie Dog Town will be pushing to raise enough funding to finalize the skatepark so please be on the look out and findi it in your heart to help our local youth make this dream happen.
